I am hoping that by finding out where the watch was bought etc. I would like to know whether these stories passed down from generations to generations are true and whether we are really related to this fellow. I have been working on my family tree for years and this is the only link I am missing. My great-great-grandfather then gave it to his eldest daughter (along with the story) who then passed it on to her eldest son (my grandfather) who passed it down to his eldest daughter who passed it down to me. The story that has been told over the generations (the ones receiving the watch) is that (insert prominents person name here) would have given a watch to his uncle (or cousin) - my great-great-grandfather - when the latter became mayor. Therefore I find it weird that he would have bought what seems to be a ladies watch (for a man) and why he would not have inscribed it. A Tavannes gold pocket watch which has a small diamond encrusted in the latch has been passed down in my family for generations.
